Since 2016, Nor's participatory practice has been quietly building something that numbers alone cannot fully capture: the conditions for communities to find their own voice, shape their own spaces, and begin to lead themselves.

Seeds of Connection
Champion Inclusivity CIC was founded in Coventry to strengthen community voice and bridge generational and cultural divides through creativity and empathy.
2021
Building Belonging
Launched intergenerational storytelling circles and the first community garden pop-ups, drawing over 200 volunteers

Growth Through Partnership

Recognition and Reach
Named delivery partner on Coventry’s “Inclusive Communities” initiative; ran 5 funded projects including heritage workshops and The Big Lunch.

From Local to Legacy
Awarded multi-partner commissions with Warwick Arts Centre and the Legacy Centre of Excellence. Developed Museum of Meaning pilot and community exhibitions

Scaling Impact
Champion Inclusivity CIC now operates as a trusted partner for councils and funders, testing new models of inclusion through creative practice, faith-friendly engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Each year has been a chapter of connection, every project a new root in the garden of belonging.
2026 - 2027
Handing the pen to the next generation
For years, we have worked hand in hand with partners, stakeholders and community organisations and together, we did make a difference. But Canley is a place where people come and go. Students move on, volunteers move away, funding arrives and ends. If this work is going to last, it can’t rest on any one partner.
So this year, we’re starting where everything good starts: with listening. We have always listened but this time it will be dedicated, focused listening to what young people really want.
Working with local schools and our existing youth clubs, and supported by the West Midlands Police Community Fund, we will make spaces for young people to meet, gather, and talk about what matters to them.
The aim is simple, and it is long-term. We don’t just want young people to take part in projects we want them to own them: to have spaces for their voices, and to begin a journey of stewardship, making positive change in the place where they live, study and play.

Volunteer Development Officer
Over the past ten years, it has been a privilege to work in partnership with Nor Aziz through Warwick Volunteers to support community activities in Canley. Nor's creativity, commitment and passion for community engagement have provided countless opportunities for University of Warwick students to volunteer alongside local residents, helping to build stronger connections between the University and the wider community.
Through her projects, Nor has created welcoming and inclusive spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together, share experiences and develop a sense of belonging. As a Volunteer Development Officer, I have seen first-hand the positive impact these activities have had on our student volunteers. They have gained valuable skills, increased confidence, developed a deeper understanding of their local community, and experienced the wellbeing benefits that come from meaningful volunteering and social connection.
The partnerships she has developed over the years have strengthened relationships between the University and Canley residents, helping to create a more connected, welcoming and vibrant community for everyone.
It has been a pleasure to support Nor's work by recruiting and coordinating student volunteers for her projects and events. Her dedication to community development, creativity and inclusion has made a lasting difference to both the volunteers involved and the wider Canley community. I am proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to seeing the continued impact of her inspiring work.

What Happened Next
From Silence to Storytelling
In one of our intergenerational circles, a grandmother shared her migration story for the first time in 40 years.
Her granddaughter said, “I never knew we were that brave.” That single conversation sparked a scrapbook documenting their journey, creating a lasting record of memory, courage, and connection across generations.
The Garden Table
A small plot in front of the local library became a meeting place for neighbours who had never spoken before.
Today, they harvest the lavender they planted and use it to create beautiful handmade crafts together.
Reclaiming Home
Junita, a volunteer at her local church, decided to get involved because she wanted her voice to be heard and to give something back to her community.
By joining the steering group, she became an active contributor, helping ensure local residents have a say in future decisions and community projects.
